Conservation tillage involves minimal disturbance to the soil surface during planting compared to traditional tillage methods that disturb entire fields resulting in increased evaporation rates; therefore farmers using this conservation approach benefit from less irrigation required since their soil retains moisture longer periods without losing it through evaporation caused by disturbing large tracts of land.
