Rural Living and Homesteading: A Year of Growth and Self-Sufficiency

As we look back on the year that is coming to a close, it’s impossible not to acknowledge the significant effect that rural living and homesteading have had on our lives. For many of us, this has been a year of growth and learning as we’ve cultivated our land, raised animals, and embraced a simpler way of life.
One of the most important lessons we’ve learned this year is the importance of self-sufficiency. With so much uncertainty in the world around us, being able to provide for ourselves has become more critical than ever before. Whether it’s growing our own food or generating our own power, each step towards self-reliance brings us greater peace of mind and security.
Of course, there have been challenges along the way. Adapting to new routines and lifestyle changes can be difficult at times. But with each passing day, those challenges have become less daunting as we’ve grown more comfortable with our new ways of living.
Perhaps one of the most rewarding aspects of rural living has been connecting with like-minded individuals in our communities. Whether through online groups or local meetups (when possible), it’s been incredible to share ideas and experiences with others who are also passionate about sustainable living.
Looking ahead to 2021, we’re excited about all that lies ahead on our homesteading journey. From expanding gardens to raising new animals to trying out new DIY projects around the property – there’s always something exciting happening when you live off-the-grid!
In conclusion, while this year may have brought its fair share of challenges for all types of people across many different walks-of-life; those embracing rural lifestyles will likely remember 2020 fondly as an opportunity for growth and reflection.
