Celebrities Embrace Blacksmithing as a Traditional Craft for Modern Times

Blacksmithing is a traditional craft that has been around for centuries and is still relevant today. It involves heating metal in a forge until it becomes malleable and shaping it into various forms using hammers, anvils, and other tools. This skill is essential for rural living and homesteading as blacksmiths can create or repair a wide variety of objects such as farm tools, hardware, horseshoes, knives, and decorative items.

Robert Downey Jr., who played the character Tony Stark in Marvel’s Iron Man movies, has shown an interest in blacksmithing outside of the films. In his free time, he enjoys making swords and suits of armor using this ancient technique. Scarlett Johansson also took part in a blacksmithing workshop while preparing for her role as Black Widow in the Avengers franchise. She learned how to make knives from scratch which helped her understand the character better.

Chris Hemsworth portrayed Thor – the God of Thunder – on screen but off-screen he’s an avid blacksmith who owns his own forge! He often shares pictures on social media showing off his creations like axes or jewelry made from recycled materials. Angelina Jolie also appreciates this art form; she took her son Maddox to visit a blacksmith shop during their travels to Cambodia where they watched local craftsmen at work.

Brad Pitt has always had a fascination with metalworking and welding since he was young. He started experimenting with forging after purchasing an old French chateau which needed extensive restoration work that required custom-made ironwork pieces. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson tried his hand at smithing while filming Hercules (2014) where he played the titular hero known for carrying a club made from oak wood covered with iron studs.

Gal Gadot trained extensively for Wonder Woman (2017) including learning how to ride horses, speak multiple languages fluently but she also picked up some basic skills related to forging weapons too. Jason Momoa, known for playing Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones and Aquaman in the DC Cinematic Universe, has a passion for blacksmithing that goes beyond his acting roles. He even created his own brand of beer called Mano Brew which features a bottle opener made from a repurposed railroad spike.

Emma Watson may be best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise but she’s also interested in sustainable fashion and ethical consumerism. She took part in an eco-fashion campaign where she worked with local artisans to create clothing using recycled materials like plastic bottles and old denim jeans. Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki – the God of Mischief – on screen, is also skilled at forging iron; he learned this craft while studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.

Jennifer Lawrence starred as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games series where archery was an essential skill for survival, but she also had to learn how to handle knives properly. Ryan Reynolds, who portrayed Deadpool on screen, is another celebrity with an interest in blacksmithing. He commissioned a sword maker to create a custom blade inspired by his character’s iconic weapon.

Margot Robbie trained hard for her role as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad (2016) which included learning gymnastics, martial arts and knife throwing! Benedict Cumberbatch might not seem like the type to wield a hammer but he’s actually quite good at it; he demonstrated his skills during an interview with Graham Norton where he made an Iron Man helmet out of paper clips!

Charlize Theron played Furiosa – a warrior woman – in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). She underwent rigorous physical training including weightlifting and fighting techniques but she also had to learn how to drive vehicles used on set including trucks and motorcycles. Vin Diesel is famous for playing Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious franchise but he’s also interested in blacksmithing; he made a custom sword for his daughter which she loved!

Zoe Saldana played Gamora – an alien assassin – in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and had to train with various weapons including swords, knives, and guns. Hugh Jackman is known for his iconic role as Wolverine in the X-Men series where his character has retractable claws made from adamantium. In real life, Jackman enjoys making knives using old railroad spikes.

Natalie Portman trained hard for her role as Evey Hammond in V for Vendetta (2006). She learned how to fight with swords and sticks which helped her become more confident on set. Samuel L Jackson played Nick Fury – director of S.H.I.E.L.D – in several Marvel movies including The Avengers (2012). He’s also a fan of golf but he took part in a blacksmithing workshop too where he created his own coat rack.

Chris Evans played Captain America who wields an iconic shield made from vibranium. In real life, Evans is interested in woodworking and even crafted furniture pieces by himself! Mark Ruffalo portrayed Bruce Banner aka The Hulk which required him to add bulk muscles through weightlifting exercises but when it comes to metalworking he prefers welding over forging.

Gwyneth Paltrow, who played Pepper Potts Tony Stark’s love interest and CEO of Stark Industries on screen, has a passion for healthy living that extends beyond nutrition. She visited a farm where she learned about sustainable agriculture practices and even tried her hand at milking goats! Jeremy Renner starred as Hawkeye in several Marvel movies including The Avengers: Endgame (2019); while not much is known about his hobbies outside acting it wouldn’t be surprising if he picked up some archery skills along the way.

Paul Rudd may be best known for playing Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but he’s also interested in blacksmithing. He took part in a workshop where he made his own bottle opener shaped like an ant!
