Woody Harrelson: From Cheers to Environmental Activism

Woody Harrelson is a well-known actor, writer, and activist. He was born in Midland, Texas but grew up in Lebanon, Ohio. In his early years, Woody worked as a woodcarver and carpenter while pursuing his passion for acting.
Harrelson’s acting career took off in the mid-1980s when he landed a role on the TV show Cheers. He played the character of Woody Boyd from 1985 to 1993 and won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Since then, he has appeared in numerous films and television shows such as Natural Born Killers (1994), The Hunger Games franchise (2012-2015), True Detective (2014), Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri (2017), Zombieland: Double Tap (2019) among others.
Aside from being an accomplished actor, Woody is also an environmentalist and advocate for sustainable living. He has been involved with various organizations that promote sustainable agriculture and renewable energy sources.
In 2001, Harrelson co-founded Prairie Pulp & Paper Inc., a company that produces paper products made entirely from wheat straw waste instead of trees. This initiative helps reduce deforestation caused by traditional paper production methods.
Additionally, he is an avid supporter of organic farming practices and co-owned a restaurant called “Sage” which served locally grown organic food before it closed its doors permanently due to financial constraints caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
