Make Delicious Homemade Cheese Right in Your Own Kitchen

Cheese making is a fun and rewarding process that can be done right in your own home. With just a few simple ingredients and equipment, you can create delicious homemade cheese that will impress your family and friends.
The first step in making cheese is to gather your ingredients. You will need milk, rennet, and starter culture. You can use any type of milk for cheese making, but most people prefer using cow’s milk as it has the highest fat content. Rennet is used to coagulate the milk and turn it into curds, while the starter culture helps to give the cheese its distinct flavor.
Once you have gathered all of your ingredients, the next step is to heat up the milk in a large pot over low heat until it reaches around 86°F (30°C). Once it has reached this temperature, add your starter culture to the pot and stir well.
Next, add in a small amount of rennet (about 1/4 teaspoon) diluted in water or another liquid to ensure even distribution throughout the milk. Stir gently for about 30 seconds before leaving it undisturbed for at least an hour or until you see curds forming on top of whey.
After an hour or so when you see curds forming on top of whey then cut them into small pieces with a sharp knife or cheesewire tool called ‘cheese harp’ then let them sit undisturbed again for another 15-20 minutes.
Now drain out most of whey from curdled mixture using cheesecloth-lined sieve or colander placed over bowl before transferring solids back into clean pot or bowl where they are heated slowly over low heat aiming for temperature around 100°F (38°C).
At this point, you may want to add salt according to taste preferences which also affects texture by drawing moisture out & helping firm up consistency after pressing later on once more whey has been removed.
After heating the curdled mixture, drain out the remaining whey and then transfer your cheese to a cheesecloth-lined mold or cheese press to help shape it. The cheese will need to be pressed for several hours, depending on the type of cheese you are making.
Once your cheese has been pressed, remove it from the mold and allow it to air dry for a few days before wrapping it in wax paper or storing it in an airtight container. Your homemade cheese is now ready to enjoy!
