Get Sudsy: Learn How to Make Your Own Natural Soap with Cold Process Soap Making!

Cold process soap making is a fun and rewarding hobby that anyone can learn. With a few basic ingredients and some equipment, you can create your own natural, handmade soaps that are gentle on the skin and free of harsh chemicals.
Here’s what you need to get started:
1. Lye – This is an essential ingredient in cold process soap making. It’s important to handle lye with care as it can be dangerous if not used properly.
2. Oils – You’ll need various oils like coconut oil, olive oil, palm oil, and others depending on the recipe you choose.
3. Essential oils or fragrance oils – These will add scent to your soap. Choose from a variety of options like lavender, peppermint or citrus scents.
4. Water – Distilled water works best for cold process soap making as tap water may contain impurities that affect the final product.
5. Equipment – A mixing bowl, stick blender (immersion blender), thermometer etc.,
Once you have all your ingredients ready, it’s time to make soap!
The first step is measuring out all of your ingredients carefully using a digital scale for accuracy. Next up mix together all the oils in a large pot over low heat until they melt completely then remove from heat & let cool down slowly while stirring occasionally.
While waiting for the mixture to cool down slightly measure out lye into another container adding water slowly stirring continuously until dissolved completely without inhaling any fumes generated by this reaction as they could be harmful too!
Now bring both pots containing melted oils & lye solution together at around 100-110°F temperature range before blending them thoroughly using an immersion blender till trace forms which means when mixture leaves trails behind when drizzled on top of itself again so don’t stop blending until then!
Once traced pour it into molds lined with parchment paper or silicone mats tapping gently against surface removing any trapped air bubbles present inside mold then cover tightly with a lid or plastic wrap and let cure for 4-6 weeks.
Finally, after the curing process is complete, remove your soap from the mold and cut it into bars. Allow it to air dry for a few more days before storing in a cool, dry place.
Cold process soap making gives you the freedom to experiment with different oils and fragrances while creating something unique that’s just right for you. With some practice, patience and attention to detail, anyone can make beautiful handmade soaps at home!
