Sting and Trudie Styler: A Love Story Rooted in Homesteading

For many, the name Sting conjures up images of a rock star with an unmistakable voice. But beyond his music career, he’s also known for his passion for homesteading – a lifestyle he shares with his wife, Trudie Styler.

Sting and Trudie first met in 1982 when she was working as a film producer on one of The Police’s music videos. They started dating soon after and have been together ever since. Their love story is rooted in their shared interests, including their love for homesteading.

In the late 1990s, Sting and Trudie purchased Lake House Estate, a magnificent property located in Wiltshire County that would become their main homestead. The estate features 800 acres of land that includes gardens, pastures, woodlands and waterways. It was here where they started to embrace the rural living lifestyle.

Sting has always had an interest in farming and gardening but it wasn’t until he moved to Lake House Estate that he began to fully immerse himself into the world of homesteading. He learned how to raise cattle and chickens while cultivating crops in organic gardens across the estate.

Trudie also took her skills from the city to country life by building greenhouses on the property where she grows vegetables year-round.

Together they’ve built an eco-friendly home using sustainable materials such as straw bales which help maintain consistent temperature throughout all seasons without using additional energy sources.

Their commitment to sustainability extends beyond just their own home too; they’ve installed solar panels throughout much of Lake House Estate helping reduce reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

But it’s not only about self-sufficiency or being environmentally conscious; there’s something more powerful at play here – community building through local agriculture practices. As part of this initiative, Sting and Trudie founded The Rainforest Foundation in 1989, which aims to protect the world’s rainforests, but also works with farmers in South America to promote sustainable agriculture practices.

Sting and Trudie’s homesteading endeavors have brought them closer together as a couple. They spend mornings working on the farm side by side or taking long walks around their estate. For them, homesteading is more than just a lifestyle; it’s an opportunity to connect with nature and each other.

Their love for rural living has even influenced their music. In 2009 they released an album called “If On A Winter’s Night…” that featured traditional songs about farming, harvests and seasons of life on the land. It was inspired by the rhythms of seasonal change and celebrations of country life.

In addition to Lake House Estate, Sting and Trudie own several other properties including an apartment in New York City where they spend part of their time when not at their homestead.

Their commitment to rural living doesn’t end there either; they’ve also been involved in conservation efforts across England preserving wildlife habitats through land trusts while promoting sustainability practices among small scale farmers throughout Europe.

Theirs is truly a love story rooted in homesteading – one that celebrates self-sufficiency, sustainability, community building and most importantly love for each other.
