“Discover the Health Benefits of Homemade Kombucha – The Fermented Tea Trend Taking Over!”

Kombucha has been gaining popularity in recent years as a health drink that offers numerous benefits. This fermented tea has been around for centuries and is known to aid digestion, boost the immune system, detoxify the body and improve mental clarity.

Kombucha is made by fermenting sweetened tea with a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY). The fermentation process produces acetic acid, probiotics, antioxidants, and other beneficial compounds.

To make kombucha at home, you will need a SCOBY which can be obtained from friends or purchased online. You will also need black or green tea bags, sugar, water and a glass jar.

Firstly brew your tea with boiling water then add sugar to dissolve it completely before allowing it to cool down. Once cooled down add the SCOBY into the jar along with some starter liquid (previously brewed Kombucha) then pour in your sweetened tea. Cover the jar with a cloth secured using an elastic band so that air can flow through but no insects or dust can get in.

The fermentation process takes anywhere from 7-14 days depending on temperature conditions; warmer temperatures generally take less time while cooler temperatures require more time. Taste test after seven days to determine if it’s ready – should have slightly sour taste but still slightly sweet too!

Once your kombucha is ready you can bottle it up in sterilized bottles adding any fruit juice flavors if desired! Place bottled Kombucha back into storage until further refrigeration.

Overall Kombucha is an excellent healthy alternative beverage option providing numerous health benefits whilst being low calorie too!
