To speed up the decomposition process and ensure thorough breakdown of organic matter into usable compost more quickly—known as hot composting—you can turn the pile regularly to introduce oxygen into its core. The increased microbial activity resulting from this added oxygen helps generate heat within the pile.

Alternatively, if time is not a constraint for you or if you prefer a low-maintenance approach where nature takes its course gradually over several months—known as cold composting—you can simply allow the ingredients to decompose at their own pace without regular turning.
