The sorted fleeces are grouped according to specific qualities such as fiber diameter, length, color, and crimp pattern. This categorization allows manufacturers to create different grades of wool suitable for various end-products.

3. Cleaning:
Prior to further processing, the raw wool goes through a cleaning process known as scouring. Scouring removes dirt, grease (lanolin), sweat residues (suint), and other impurities from the fibers using mild detergents or organic solvents.

4. Carding:
Carding refers to the mechanical separation of tangled or matted fibers in order to align them parallelly into a continuous strand called a roving. Carding machines use wire teeth or rollers that comb out any remaining impurities while straightening and blending the fibers together.

5. Spinning:
In spinning mills equipped with spinning frames or machinery, carded roving is twisted together under tension to form yarns of varying thicknesses (known as worsted or woollen yarn). Spinning can be done manually using traditional methods or industrially using automated processes.

6. Finishing Touches:
Once spun into yarns, additional treatments like dyeing or blending with other fibers may occur depending on desired colors and characteristics for final products like clothing fabrics or home textiles.
